The Secret

When the book The Secret came out in 2006, I read it and watched the movie made about it.

The book’s message is that if you visualize a goal and believe that you already have it, it will come to be.

Many people have proved this to be true.

However, the trick is to believe without any doubt, which is the hard part for most people.

Many people who create vision boards bring the things they envision into their lives.

People who create goals for themselves, write them down on a list, and reading that list daily can make those goals materialize—but only if the individuals persist by not giving in to doubt.

That is why some people say you should not share your goals with others until you have attained them.

If you share your goals with others before you achieve them, you are allowing other people to introduce doubt in your mind, and if you believe that doubt, you will not complete your goals.

Doubt is a dream destroyer.

Doubt is often based on fear, which causes you to believe that you can’t complete your goals for some reason.

Doubt based on fear creates stories with negative outcomes.

You can stop fear-based stories by rebuking them and instead imagining positive stories in which you achieve your goals.

Many people use this technique to acquire more material possessions.

However, after your basic needs for food and shelter have been met, getting more things, such as an excessively large home, a yacht, or more than one car, will not bring peace, joy, and happiness into your life.

More “stuff” and money will only give you ways to temporarily distract yourself from your pain and depression.

Eventually, they will only give you more to worry about losing and having to protect.

More stuff and money will also separate you from meaningful relationships with other people, because they will became envious and jealous of your possessions, or else they will want to spend time with you to use or take advantage of your resources.

Having more stuff and money will not foster more love in your life.

Having more stuff and money has nothing to do with love.

Instead of piling up tons of stuff that you don’t need, give away your extra resources to others, and do so unconditionally, which is to love others.

By giving you receive.

So, when you give unconditionally out of love, that unconditional love comes back to you.

It may not come back from the person you gave to, but it will come back.

You need to connect with others through unconditional love to find true happiness, joy, and peace in this life.

However, when I finished reading The Secret, I asked myself, “Where is the love in this?”

In other words, are we just getting better at being selfish by acquiring more stuff and money, or are we using the stuff and money to help other people unconditionally?

By loving others unconditionally, we allow God to work through us, because God’s true nature is love.

God expresses His love through us when we unconditionally give to others.

When our goals involve helping others unconditionally, instead of getting more for ourselves, God steps in to help us.

God gives us solutions to complex problems concerning our goals to give to others unconditionally.

God also provides the people we need to assist us to help others.

The word God has been corrupted by people who falsely claim to represent Him.

As a result, many people have rejected God.

God’s true nature is unconditional love and forgiveness.

Fear tells us that the more stuff we have, the happier we will be.

That is a lie!

God is real and wants to live through us by our choosing to love each other and help each other unconditionally.

1 Corinthians 13:1-7 NLT

If I could speak all the languages of the earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it, but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

Unconditionally giving to others is love in action.
