Expert Giver Groups
Expert Giver Groups are separate from this book and these essays.
The groups are designed to work whether or not anyone agrees with anything written here. Nothing in the Seven Steps asks you to believe anything. The groups were built to work for people with religious beliefs, with spiritual beliefs, or with none at all.
The book and the essays are my personal experience. They are here for anyone who wants to know how the groups came about. They are not required reading, and agreeing with them is not required to take part.
In the Seven Steps of Expert Giver Groups, “God” and “Higher Power” are not mentioned. The steps ask for honesty, humility, accountability, amends, and forgiveness — things no one has to argue about. That is on purpose. It leaves room for everyone.
Everything about the groups — what they are, how to find or start one, the Seven Steps, the Ten Guidelines, the meeting scripts — lives on the groups' own site, where it is kept current.
If you'd like to know how the groups came about, that story is in the book and the essays. But you don't need it to walk into a meeting.
