Listening to God

Jason Cazes · March 2024 · 2 min read · Download the Word file

God doesn’t give us more than we can handle.

We give ourselves more than we can handle when we don’t allow God to direct our thoughts and actions.

Unconditionally loving and forgiving others are the keys that open the channel for God to direct our thoughts and actions.

Some examples of loving others are telling them from the heart that you love them, comforting them, feeding them, listening to them, and telling them that they will be okay.

Encourage them with positive goals and compliments.

When God puts a thought in your mind, your task is to follow that thought.

God speaks to you through your own thoughts, through other people, and sometimes through posts on social media or music.

In other words, my guardian angels, which are agents of God, speak to me.

Some examples of how God has directed me just in the last week include:

God temporarily took away the reply button on my Messenger app to tell me not to reply right then with what I was thinking.

God directed me step by step to organize and clean my garage, showing me what and how to sort moment to moment for several hours.

God told me to help a man I saw struggling on the street while I was driving.

At that moment, I thought twice about helping the man, but just then a car pulled in front of me and drastically slowed down, which gave me time to decide to help the man, after all.

I said, “Okay, I’m listening,” laughed, and turned around.

I parked and approached the guy, and asked if he needed help.

He said, “Yes, I’m hungry.”

Within three hours, I had fed him, driven him to my house to take a shower, given him several new sets of clothes, and placed him in a 12-month Christian discipleship program associated with a homeless outreach program in my area.

That is how God, my guardian angels, works through me when I listen and remain a vessel for Him to work through.

The path unfolds in front of me about what to do next, moment to moment, in perfect timing.

Miracles happen.

Doors open.

There are usually several steps I need to take to obtain an outcome from God’s directions.

I just need to listen, trust, and follow.

God’s directions always guide me to outcomes that satisfy me most, while helping others.

It’s always a win-win, in which everyone benefits.

Unconditionally loving and forgiving others keeps the channel open for God’s directions and guidance.

To attain a highly consistent level of listening to God and following His directions, you must first forgive all your enemies and love everyone unconditionally, which will bring God into your life more and more. (See my essay “Forgiveness Opens Love”)
