Building Spiritual Trust
The purpose of this life is to build spiritual trust for the next one.
Spiritual trust involves doing the “right” thing, whether or not anyone is watching.
Doing the “right” thing requires you to be unselfish, forgiving, and loving.
Our fear-based, sinful, instinctually-driven, selfish nature wants to satisfy itself with pleasure, lust, and distraction, often at the expense of others.
We become spiritually trustworthy when we humbly surrender our sinful selfish nature to the will of the Holy Spirit, which is unconditionally loving and forgiving.
Building spiritual trust is the goal and purpose of our life.
It is not easy to do because we often feel like doing the opposite.
Our task is to overcome our fearful sinful nature.
To do this, we must forgive ourselves and others, which removes the blocks of guilt, anger, and resentment, thereby enabling our ability to love unconditionally.
We must overcome fear, which tells us that we don’t have enough to give others, and instead give out of love with no expectations of money, sex, or control in return.
Our task here is to overcome anger, revenge, and selfish pleasure-seeking at the expense of others and ourselves.
The Holy Spirit, which is unconditionally loving and forgiving, guides us in making right choices, but we must first humbly surrender our selfish, sinful nature.
However, most of us don’t want to be told what to do or to surrender to anything.
We are prideful and lack humility.
We believe that we will only find satisfaction if we indulge the desires of our selfish, sinful nature.
But that only leads to our experiencing more pain.
The Holy Spirit guides us out of that pain and toward the happiness, peace, and joy that will truly satisfy us in this life and advance us in the afterlife.
